iOS eMail

My email won't load regularly. Most of the time it seems to just continually load, while it says offline at the bottom.
Somes times it just pops online and my stuff downloads, but that is rare.
It finally did it today after I refreshed the app a few times between just randomly popping in and out of the various areas within the app it's self.
I should mention that  I have 3 gmail accounts going on my phone and iPad, BUT it works ok on the iPad, but not the iPhone.
Thanks in advance,
Kassandra

Re: iOS eMail

Thanks for letting us know about this, we'll take a look at it.  I've seen this problem show up every now and then in the Android version, but I've not seen it happen on the iPhone or iPad.  Briefly, PocketWGU authenticates to WGU servers, and then uses that "session data" (tokens provided by WGU) to log into the web version of GMail.  Interestingly, web-based GMail has its own behavior for how often it requires someone to "re-verify" their login, and this is different than the settings for WGU.  When things don't work, it usually been the case that GMail wants a "re-verify" before WGU's servers think one is needed.

It is rather odd that you are seeing this problem from your iPhone, but not having the problem on your iPad.  I'll need to think about this for a while.  The reason that it's odd is that there is only one set of code in PocketWGU for both iPad and iPhone, nothing about PocketWGU's access to email is different between these two devices.  Can you tell me if both of your devices are running the same version of iOS?  If they are running different iOS versions, this might make a difference.

Thanks!

Re: iOS eMail

Kassandra,

I have a little bit of news to report.  After a lot of testing I was able to recreate the email problem you were seeing.  First, I was only able to make the problem appear on iOS 6 & 7 (never on 5.x) so it makes sense that this works fine on your 1st-gen iPad and the problem only appears on your iPhone.

I think the problem relates to some "caching" of settings, cookies or something similar from the GMail mobile website.  It's hard to know what (PocketWGU isn't caching anything on purpose), but I made the problem go away by resetting my devices.  You should NOT have to reset your iPhone, but you may want to trying uninstalling PocketWGU (to clean out all of its cache) and then reinstalling it to see if it works.  You can also go into Safari on your iPhone and trying clening out its cache, cookies, etc. as this might also help.

I hope that helps!
