Java JRE instrallation requirement for iphone 4 ios 5.

Hi,
Does anybody have an idea how to get java JRE version 6.0 above installed for iphone 4 iOS 5.0.1? I was trying access some of the learning material provided by Skillsoft using pocket wgu application but not able to view the course material links which I think requres Java JRE version 6 and above to veiw the sessions.
Greatly appreciate your help to resolve the above issue.
Thanks
Rajiv

Hi Rajiv,

I could be wrong about this, but I don't think there is a Java plugin (to make Java work in the browser) for iOS.  I know that Oracle had said it was going to create one, and Apple changed their terms a while back to "maybe" allow this, but I don't think it has happend yet.

For SkillSoft pages that have Java applets in them, it may be that you have to use a full-fledged Mac or PC.  Apple doesn't provide any native support for Java or Flash on iOS (iPhone or iPad).

Sorry :-(

Thanks for your prompt response. Much appreciated!
However I am little dissapointed to learn of this technical snag that has the potential constraint to view through some of WGU webminars using ipadp/iphone which is quite handy during transit.
Hope this will get resolve sometime near future.
Cheers!

I hear you!  I wish there was something I could do to help.  Remember, the PocketWGU team isn't part of WGU, we're just students and volunteers.  Only WGU itself can change the study materials (or press the creators of those materials to stop using Java or Flash).

Of course, it would also be nice if Apple actually decided to support these very common technologies...  doubt that's going to happen anytime soon.
